Tuesday Afternoon 03/31/09 //--> Selling some Gear!
I'm selling off one of my kits.... I bought it new in July 08... it's only had 8 months of playing. I used the kit for several tours and it held up like a champ. Also included with the kit are a complete set of hard cases... Everything is in really great condition. I recently upgraded to a higher end kit and this one needs a new home!
You can hear recordings of the kit on Sol'Jibe's Myspace profile music player - the songs that this kit is on are: This Road, Lie, Raices Nuevos, and Baila.
http://www.myspace.com/soljibe
The kit is a Gretsch Catalina Birch, 10", 12", 14" toms, 14x5" snare, and 22"x18" Bass Drum. Comes with hard cases for all the toms and bass drum, 2 double braced cymbal stands, Single Kick pedal.
I payed $500 for the shells, $150 for hardware upgrades, and $400 for the cases. I'm selling everything for $850.00. This is a great deal. The kit is curently in Reno, NV.
I also have a Mackie 808S PA Unit for sale as well. It's used, has a few scratches, etc... but it works great. I'm asking $500 for it... they usually retail for about $900.

Thursday Morning 08/15/08 //-->Album is released!
My first solo-album is finally out. You can find it on iTunes, emusic, napster, aimestreet, etc... It's taken me 5 years to get this damn thing out, and I would really appreciate some listens, comments, and purchases. Don't try to buy one from me in person... chances are I'll just give you one... but you can pick them up without my awareness at cdbaby.com or at live shows (I have them for sale at most shows).
The project is named "Daily Thumbprint Collection" and is entirely a solo-creation (except for appreciated contributions from Sam Minaie and Gavin Templeton on the first track). I wrote it, performed it, recorded it, mixed it, mastered it, and did the artwork and package design. I'm damn proud of it too, so please check it out!
More information or links to buy the album can be found at SNP Records
This is from the SNP Records website:
Daily Thumbprint Collection is a solo album by drummer Caleb Dolister. The album consists of several songs that have been worked, reworked, and then reworked again - some taking as long as 5 years. The initial sound is similar to that of a Downtempo, NuJazz, or Instrumental Indi-Rock album. It seems to be electronic-sounding, containing many ambient background sounds and fluid melodic synth-bass lines. But very quickly, the music starts becoming too unpredictable to be just another mix or loop based album... Many albums in the semi-electronic genre consist of live instruments played with sampled drum samples or loops. This album is the opposite: live drums. Approaching the album in this way seems to have given Caleb Dolister's solo project a unique sense of life. It's not just an electronic solo album - the life in the rhythms give it the energy of a rock album. For the listener - it presents itself very much like a personal soundtrack, but will surprise you with ferocious percussive energy and performance throughout.

Saturday Morning 06/14/08 //--> quick update
So apparantly I am far behind in maintaining my website. I've been playing with Sol'Jibe (www.soljibe.com) since last September. The experience has been time consuming but well worth it. So far we have toured extensively and have been in several states: California, Nevada, Oregon, Washington, Idaho, Montana, Utah, Tennessee, North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Virginia, and Baja California (Mexico).
I've got a bunch of pictures, but just lost my camera.
I've got a bunch of stories, but don't feel like writing it all down.
I've made a ton of new friends, but have forgotten many names...
I've gotten to travel around and play music, but I've forgotten what color my home is....
That sort of wraps it up eh?
In other news, SNP Records has or will have recently released a few albums:
Cranium: Phantasmagoria (June 7th)
Axis Trio: The Hand (June 19th)
Daily Thumbprint Collection (my solo album - June 28th)

Tuesday 07/31/07 //--> A big update
It's been over 5 months since the last update. I'm still getting emails about the size of my penis? While my spam-inbox hasn't changed, serveral other things have. One of my new favorite words is skindawg - used to describe only the best of mullets... often found in the woods near the Tennessee / Kentucky border.
I've been working on SNP Records. SNP is focused on making records happen. It's simple. I don't need to explain too much here, because you can check out snprecords.com

Tuesday 02/13/07 //--> Last Year's Gig Schedule
Wow. Well, this certainly is a way for me to relive almost every moment from last year. Thanks a lot Mr. Calendar. To put this into perspective: I've been counting my gigs for the last several years or so... Two years ago, I read an interview about Santana where he commented about playing over 200 gigs in a year. At that time, I was playing about 130-150 gigs in the Reno & Tahoe Area. I set a goal to play at least 200 gigs. In 2005, I managed to play 204 gigs - without touring at all... So in 2006, it looks like I've dropped my gig count. It looks like I have a new goal to beat for 2007... although it's going to be hard now that I am far away from as many opportunities. Maybe 2008?

Sunday 01/21/07 //--> Time for an update? I mean really, who even reads this...
Let's see. I'm writing this from the back of a van (not by the river) while on a short road-trip with Captain Midnight Band. We are on our way back to Nashville TN from playing 4 dates around the south. We rocked the hell out of "The Two Stick" in Oxford MS, "Martins" in Jackson MS, "Chelsea's" in Baton Rouge LA, and "The Maple Leaf " in
New Orleans LA. I am very much in love with NOLA after this trip - even with half of the city still showing huge battle wounds from the Katrina disaster. Oh yeah, I met some tight peeps too... somehow I managed to find myself wandering around the streets of New Orleans at about 8:00 in the morning.... lucky for me, I stumbled back on the van and was able to crash out in a chair for a few hours before getting in the car... oh yeah, I'll post photos as soon as my camera get's mailed back to me... hahahaha. Additionally, I am getting a southern style nickname... people have started to call me toothpick (because I often have a toothpick hanging from my grill....). Just a warning....

(from the two stick in oxford, MS)
A recount from the last few months: November was a mild month. I did a couple odd gigs, found a studio space to rent. December brought me back to Tahoe again for gigs over the holidays. The Reno music scene welcomed the reunion of several musicians that had left. Medulla Oblongata Ensemble, Operation Panda, and The Electrosonics all performed. The Electrosonics killed it at the Green Room on New Years Eve to several hundred people. I'll have videos up from this trip shortly.
Plans for the future: get my recording setup going strong, start making some money by recording demo's for people, do some quick road trips with the Worsties, get some more electrosonics action going... etc.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Tuesday 10/31/06 //--> Hmmm. What's new around these parts...
There are some good things going on that are worth mentioning. I recently made a trip back to Reno for a recording session with the JimDangles. We recorded at Bay studios in Berkeley, CA. Great engineer, great recording. We are still sorting through the good takes to decide which ones make the album. There is a new photo blog from the entire trip. Included in this new blog are photos of Reno, The Studio, The Jim Dangles, Landscape shots taken from the window of an airplane, and some photos of good ol' Nashville.
As far as music in Nashville is concerned, I am performing with a band named The Worsties. We'll be playing a show at the Nashville Scene Music Festival 2 on Friday, November 3rd. This is actually a great group - and I think we are going to put on a good show...
Oh yeah, and my Canadian roommate just recently received his drivers license in the mail from Quebec. His ID has "Female" marked down for his gender. Classic.... hahaha. He has been experiencing a mild case of gender crisis, and now sometimes answers to the name Danielle. I have done my best to inform him that he does not look like a good chick to know... he is determined though to figure this whole thing out.
This may not be that interesting to that many people, but I finally cleaned my room. Haha, ok, but in the process of doing so, I have discovered that I am having trouble listening and enjoying any of the songs I've written in the last several years. I don't think it is because I don't like them, or don't like the mixes, or sometimes - the bad writing; I think it is because each song now has become a representation of certain events. I'm not trying to convey that the material makes me sad or long for the past, but I think it grinds against the "moving ahead" mentality that has brought me to my current location. I'll be interested to see how this emotional detachment develops.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Sunday 10/1/06 //--> Welp.
Updates from Nashville: I am now playing with two bands. The first band is called Auto Defiance, and the second band is The Captain Midnight Band. It's good to be playing again. I have also found more Jazz in the city. I'm not playing jazz yet, but at least I know where to go and listen whenever I'm not rehearsing.
Click here for photos from a recent trip to my hometown & Reno. I'm late in posting this, but I recently went back to Reno and my hometown. I went back for my Grandfather's funeral, but was able to spend some good quality time with several friends and family members. Oddly enough, it was a good trip. The mountains in these photos are the Sierras and then town is Truckee. The city photos are of Reno. The Tattoos are based on my Grandfather (the reason why my mom and I have a matching design now).

Sunday 9/12/06 //--> Welcome to Nashville
The roommates are cool. The city is full of interesting people. I've seen live music, met a few new friends. I went to a book-burning (click here for a video) that was actually very funny. Now I just need to find a band to play music with.
So far I found one Jam session for jazz. Not too many jam sessions though in general, as most people here are just the singer songwriter types. I have to admit though, what is with all the name dropping? It seems like you can't have a conversation with most musicians around here without them telling you who they know or might have played with. Granted, I understand it to a point, but common folks....wait until I ask about your background, until then I just want to hear you play and see if you can hang. For all I know, we get on a stage together and you are just busy thinking about who you know, not what you know. Please do the world a favor, and let your musicianship do the talking. I personally look forward to the situations where my playing will do all the introductions, not my background.... God I'm sick of that shit already.
Thursday 9/07/06 //--> Leaving Colorado
Click here for photos of everything from Reno to Nashville
I spent the earlier part of the day swapping CD's with Darren. I ended up leaving Co. around 5pm. Colorado and Kansas really don't have too much in them. I spent the night in Hayes Kansas. The following day I drove 650 miles. I passed through Kansas City, which is crazy looking. Then I passed through St. Louis. I did get a video of me driving passed the Arch. Cool stuff. I decided it was time to stop when I saw an exploded car on the side of the road. I spent the night at Mt. Vernon, Illinois. Uneventful. The following day I drove through Kentucky, then into Tennessee and finally arrived at my new home.
Monday 9/04/06 //--> Wow
Went to the 'Taste of Denver' festival. Very cool. I got the opportunity to see the DKO project lead by Darren Kramer. Good band, you can check them out here. Oddly enough, the sax player in this band is the very same person that introduced my parents to each other in Jackson Hole, Wyoming back in the mid-70's. This was a very crazy, random, small world situation for me. Later that night I was able to sit in with Darren in a Salsa group. It was a great night...
Sunday 9/03/06 //--> Happy Birthday Dad
Got up today at around 7am. Cein had to head to work, and I had a crap load of driving to pull off. For the most part, today I just drove. 533 miles. I finally listened to the Beatles' White Album. It was good, but had nowhere near the effect that Abby Road had on me. Not even close. (For those of you who don't know, my first experience with Abby Road left me bawling like a baby when it was through). I stopped in Fort Collins in search of the New Belgium Brewery, and left with a new pair of Converse. Tonight, I was stoked to experience my first shower since leaving Reno (no time at the hotel in Wendover, and Cein didn't have one at the studio!). I am lucky enough to be staying with some incredibly caring people tonight. I plan to build them a website in the near future (they run a dog shelter - there were 14 dogs here tonight). Oh yeah, and I met the other Andrea tonight - she really does exist :)
Saturday, 9/02/06 //--> I'm still drunk
Woke up around 10 to..."Caleb - let's get some breakfast" and I was awake immediately. And still drunk. The roll sheet for breakfast included myself, John (I suck at names - someone correct me if I am wrong), Charley, and Cein. I had eggs benedict and they were good. After breakfast, I was still drunk. We then went swimming at... eagle fish canyon, or something like that. We stopped at an official liquor store, and I paid $12.90 for a six pack of red stripe. I was still drunk. We went swimming and I got a funny tan. I was still drunk. We went back and crashed for a nap at Cein's studio. Now I was just tired and actually pulled off a headache (this does not happen often for me). Ate dinner at a place called Mazza, which was pretty much a humus/pita/and sort of like Iranian food place... though not much focus on rice. Good food though. Afterwards, We enjoyed a few episodes of "Peepshow" at Cein's friend's house, and then called it early. I happily slept on the floor of Cein's art studio.
Friday, 9/01/06 //--> Salty Laked Cities
I woke up at 11:30 am (never got the call). At this point, I walked around Wendover for about 20 minutes and decided it was not so interesting. I left and headed to Salt Lake City, which is roughly 115 miles east on I-80. An old friend of mine named Cein Watson lives in Salt Lake and I had plans to meet with him in the afternoon. I arrived early and killed time by attempting to find a place to park my 6'x10' trailer, and then using the over priced internet access of a random Starbucks. I eventually met Cein at his art studio, where I was happy to ditch my vehicle and trailer for the remainder of my stay in Salt Lake City. We biked it (that's right, me on a bike! and my ass is soar enough to prove it) just down the street to a restaurant called the bayou or something like that. It had a bad ass jambalaya pizza and 200 beers not expected in Utah. Well done. One of the bikes then had a flat tire, so we chained em up and walked to a place called the jackalope. This is where I had my side-car experience. Apparently, you can only order a drink with 1 oz of alcohol in it - however, you order a "sidecar" and they give you a second shot in a shot glass. You are supposed to sit your drink down enough and then add the second shot yourself. Basically, a weak ass jim beam & coke with exactly 2oz of booze will cost you at least $6.... however, the flask of Bushmills in my pocket made up for the difference. By 1 am, it was a good ol drunken night. Some lady was bragging about her vagina plastic surgery where she had it "tucked" and made "pinker" than before.... shortly after meeting this person, Cein and I were off safely in a cab, far far away from interaction with the rebuilt-vagasaurus-rex. We slept (rather passed out) at (I think Charley)'s house. I was in a chair, which was amazingly comfortable even though it did not recline, and was not big enough for my legs to fit on.
Thursday, 8/31/06 //--> Good bye Reno.
Anyway. I left Reno Today, August 31st. I drove 398.05 miles to Wendover (border of Nevada & Utah). I dropped $45 on a motel that night. The movie on HBO was Training Day. I scheduled a 10:00 am wake-up call.

Tuesday - 08/22/06 //---> Oh well. I'm headed to Nashville.
Actually, today is a month since a very bad day.... but today is a good day itself. This, however, is of no concern to you. Instead I will talk about the good matters at hand. I have left my job at the company in Santa Cruz and have been busy binge drinking and packing everything I own in Reno. I am in the process of unloading many of my household and personal items and hopefully will get everything to a point where I can fit it either in my car or a 10x6 trailer. In about 7 days I should be headed directly to Nashville, TN. The idea here is to put myself into every music situation I can schedule. I've made a few connections since the initial idea, but have yet to actually ever be in the city. Adventures will either be grand or a pain in the ass, but it's all about putting myself in a situation where music is first.
As a good-bye event, we have our final Electrosonics show. The flyer is over on the right. It would be great if anyone who can make it shows up :)
Ok, so I suppose I should fill this up with some more stuff... otherwise the entire page is going to look very damn-unbalanced.
I don't recommend this.

I recommend this.

Monday - 07/17/06 //---> A month since a good day. This was a good one too.
Welcome to the new calebdolister.com. I am a drummer of many styles as well as a learning-composer. I think it's funny how the word "composer" has the word "poser" in it.... So, in reality - I am a drummer and a 'poser-composer' .... I don't know what that means. This has got to be one of the worst website intros ever. Let's see.... I'm 24 and I just recently moved to Santa Cruz, Ca from Reno, NV. I've been playing drums for about as long as I could speak. I sometimes stutter when I talk, and sometimes musically stutter while I'm playing so that would make sense. Not so much though anymore though.
In Reno I managed to play drums for about 15 bands and whatever fill-in work I could get (I was in Reno from 2000-2006). In Santa Cruz I am bandless... for now. I moved here to seclude myself and hide from the giant arachnids in Nevada... haha no not really I came here to work at a start-up company. I'll probably end up moving away from here soon because the spiders are indeed bigger down here than in Reno....! I don't like spiders too much.
The photo to the right is me learning how to use a camera I just picked-up. As you can see, I have the instructions out and I am reading them thoroughly. Immediately after taking this photo, I lost the instructions.

This is a new design... because I feel like it.
Thanks
